I am NOT a runner. Wait let me make sure you understand. I AM NOT A RUNNER. I don’t believe I am a good runner. I was never good at running growing up. Never pushed the limits, took that leap of faith that i could ever be. I was too FAT to be a good runner. That was my excuse.
For 28 and almost a half that was my excuse. Just if I was skinnier I could be a good runner, a great runner, not such a scaredy cat. Do all this cool things, take the bull by the horns. EXCUSES EXCUSES. Will me being skinny really make me a great runner? Yes it would make it easier to run fast, take stress of my body being smaller, help my breathing, make it so I can run longer before getting tired. But just because I am over weight doesn’t mean I can’t be a runner. The only one that is stopping me from being good or great runner is ME. And the only one that can change that is me. Because in the end we only regret the chances we didn’t take.
Adventure is out there!!! I am not sitting around and letting it pass me by anymore.
Before 2015 started I made a list of 15 goals to complete and do in 2015. There are a few goals I knocked out of the ball park and some that just didn’t happen for various reasons.
Visit my Oma twice- I was able to make the trip up to see her once. For her 90th Birthday. She was truly a Queen that day. There was plans for me to visit a second time for my cousin’s baby shower but unfortunately it fell on the same weekend as the Fall Conference for Toastmasters which I run and manage the District 12’s bookstore.
2500 ActiveLink Points- I was really excited and motivated that I would accomplish this goal, but sadly in October WeightWatchers announced that they will no longer be supporting ActiveLink. I believe I achieved a lot 2000 points before they discontinued the ActiveLink.
Do the 52 week saving plan ($2,000)– The 52 week plan really should at up to $1378, but I decided to make it add up to $2000. More on this goal in an upcoming post. But yay yay yay I did it!!!!!
Read at least 15 books- I read about 7 or 8 completely and half of two others.
Clean out room/ Organize it- Really wish I got this one completed I have a 15% of this goal complete and hope to have this crossed of my goal list in the near future.
Take 3 trips away- I only ended up going on two trips for 2015. Both trips were to Las Vegas. One in January for ASW and the other in August for Toastmaster International Convention. Both trips were full of fun and learning and will be attending both events in 2016. My third trip that was had planned sadly got cancelled.
Visit Sarah at least five times- I visited my BFF Sarah Patrick and the kiddos 4 times this year. So close!
Do at least one long hike/ bike ride– At the beginning of summer I was kidnapped/ surprised and taken to Santa Monica to rent bikes. We rode down the boardwalk and to Venice Beach. It was truly a wonderful and fun surprise with memories I will always cherish.
Go to Six Flags- This wasn’t so much of a goal as a want.
100+ Group X Classes- I did 43 of 100 that I set out to do.
Do at least one race- Just never got around to signing up. Looked at a number of ones but they never worked with my schedule. Definitely planning to improve and make up for not get this goal done.
Donate 100+ things– Ended donating around 150 different ideas. Old clothes, stuff I didn’t need anymore and stuff for the holidays for the less fortunate.
225 lbs or Less- This year had its ups and downs. Unfortunately I did not carry out this goal but I am not giving up on this goal.
Clean and Keep car clean– This goal has been completed and uncompleted many times in 2015. Hence why the keep is not crossed off.
Finish High School/ College Scrapbook- Just never got around to completing this goal what so ever. But this is probably one of the least important goals on my list.
So the end count for 4 completed, 8 partly completed/ started and 3 untouched with a percentage of 26.66666667 completed goals. I have confidence that my goals I have set for this upcoming year 2016 (future post) will end with at better percentage completed.
It’s that time of the year again when Friends and family come together and think about the Christmases of the past and plan for the coming holiday with their loved ones in mind. As I reflect on this wonderful day, we all must keep in mind that Christmas is not just any holiday but may be the most important one of the year for some people. It is a time for remembering, a time to share the goodness of your heart with others, and for expressing with words and gifts what someone means to you. It is a chance to make wishes come true and to give something from your heart. It is a chance to give a message that will express love and caring to the ones we care about the most. As you connect the people important in your life, take a moment to make a Christmas wish for each and every person on your list.
May your hearts be filled with peace and faith in God. May your days of doubt be replaced with days of HOPE and JOY. May you and your family get nurtured with lots of love. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and to your loved ones!
I posted yesterday that I was have problem with 404 not found pages. I am happy to announce that its been solved. To be honest I don’t know how it got solved (will need to learn that hopefully at some point) but I braved up and reached out for help. I am truly grateful that I have people in my life that I can reach out for help and support. Also that they were able to help and fix it so quickly. Thank you for saving my sanity. If anyone ever need help with there website and or computer/ laptop I have an awesome Tech guy I can refer.
Sorry about all the 404 not found pages. My website just recently got switched from HostGater to SiteGround.com. Still trying to figure out all the bugs and what not. Please stay tune promise they will be fixed shortly. But until then I will still keep posting.
I have had this website now almost five years. Yes that right five years. I believe I have like 11ish post which mean I have averaged about two post a year if you divided it up. But seeing as my last post was almost two or three years ago I would have to admit I am kind of slacking. I had big plans of being this super saving deal blogger but there was this thing called life that has gone in the way. Not saying that is a good excuse for not doing too much with KathrynEkman.com. If I was truly honest with why this site hasn’t been has successful as I dreamt it would be, it would be because of my fear of failing. But really fearing to fail is the same as fearing to succeed. My blog KathrynEkman.com is so much more than coupons and savings, it will be a way for me to express my life, journey, ideas, experiences and of course I will share any cool deals and saving tips I find thru out this journey called life.

Today is a new day and new start of the rest of my life. This part of my website is going to help myself and hopefully other stay motivated with goals and dreams. Some day will be tougher than others and I may pour out and share more than the basics. But I’m just going to put it out there if you don’t like it then don’t read this part of my site or just lose this website address all together. I am doing the for ME! Love you all!
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening….your gallon is not exactly a gallon.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you’re filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you’re getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.
Hey everyone Black Friday is right around the corner. So be sure to plan ahead on your top stops and great deals with TGI Black Friday. It’s a free app from iTunes that show you all the great deals from pretty much any store you want. This app has five tabs: Home, Stores, Categories, Search and My List. Home shows a Countdown til Black Friday at the top and two tabs: Popular Deals and Newest Ads. Stores shows each store in Alphabetic order with the number of deals offered at that store on the right. Categories is where you can search by type of item for example Appliances, DVDs, or Video Games. Search is where you can search all the stores for the best deal for that certain someone’s Christmas list. Lastly is My List where you can save the deals you want to take advantage of. The think I love most about this app is that when you look at the different stores it tell you what time that Store opens. So be sure to check this app out and don’t miss the great deals because you didn’t plan ahead!
