2015 Goal Recap

Before 2015 started I made a list of 15 goals to complete and do in 2015.  There are a few goals I knocked out of the ball park and some that just didn’t happen for various reasons.

2015 Goals

  1. Visit my Oma twice- I was able to make the trip up to see her once. For her 90th Birthday. She was truly a Queen that day. There was plans for me to visit a second time for my cousin’s baby shower but unfortunately it fell on the same weekend as the Fall Conference for Toastmasters which I run and manage the District 12’s bookstore.
  2. 2500 ActiveLink Points- I was really excited and motivated that I would accomplish this goal, but sadly in October WeightWatchers announced that they will no longer be supporting ActiveLink. I believe I achieved a lot 2000 points before they discontinued the ActiveLink.
  3. Do the 52 week saving plan ($2,000)– The 52 week plan really should at up to $1378, but I decided to make it add up to $2000. More on this goal in an upcoming post. But yay yay yay I did it!!!!!
  4. Read at least 15 books- I read about 7 or 8 completely and half of two others.
  5. Clean out room/ Organize it- Really wish I got this one completed I have a 15% of this goal complete and hope to have this crossed of my goal list in the near future.
  6. Take 3 trips away- I only ended up going on two trips for 2015. Both trips were to Las Vegas. One in January for ASW and the other in August for Toastmaster International Convention. Both trips were full of fun and learning and will be attending both events in 2016. My third trip that was had planned sadly got cancelled.
  7. Visit Sarah at least five times- I visited my BFF Sarah Patrick and the kiddos 4 times this year. So close!
  8. Do at least one long hike/ bike ride– At the beginning of summer I was kidnapped/ surprised and taken to Santa Monica to rent bikes. We rode down the boardwalk and to Venice Beach. It was truly a wonderful and fun surprise with memories I will always cherish.
  9. Go to Six Flags- This wasn’t so much of a goal as a want.
  10. 100+ Group X Classes- I did 43 of 100 that I set out to do.
  11. Do at least one race- Just never got around to signing up. Looked at a number of ones but they never worked with my schedule. Definitely planning to improve and make up for not get this goal done.
  12. Donate 100+ things– Ended donating around 150 different ideas. Old clothes, stuff I didn’t need anymore and stuff for the holidays for the less fortunate.
  13. 225 lbs or Less- This year had its ups and downs. Unfortunately I did not carry out this goal but I am not giving up on this goal.
  14. Clean and Keep car cleanThis goal has been completed and uncompleted many times in 2015. Hence why the keep is not crossed off.
  15. Finish High School/ College Scrapbook- Just never got around to completing this goal what so ever. But this is probably one of the least important goals on my list.

So the end count for 4 completed, 8 partly completed/ started and 3 untouched with a percentage of 26.66666667 completed goals. I have confidence that my goals I have set for this upcoming year 2016 (future post) will end with at better percentage completed.

A Little Honesty from KathrynEkman.com

I have had this website now almost five years. Yes that right five years. I believe I have like 11ish post which mean I have averaged about two post a year if you divided it up. But seeing as my last post was almost two or three years ago I would have to  admit I am kind of slacking. I had big plans of being this super saving deal blogger but there was this thing called life that has gone in the way. Not saying that is a good excuse for not doing too much with KathrynEkman.com. If I was truly honest with why this site hasn’t been has successful as I dreamt it would be, it would be because of my fear of failing. But really fearing to fail is the same as fearing to succeed. My blog KathrynEkman.com is so much more than coupons and savings, it will be a way for me to express my life, journey, ideas, experiences and of course I will share any cool deals and saving tips I find thru out this journey called life.

Shopkick

If you have a smart phone, you MUST get ShopKick. Mashable placed it 7th on its article 10 Apps to Watch in 2011.  The app is free  and there is no cost to use it, just a little time.  Whenever you open the app,  it will display offers from nearby locations.

There are two ways to collect kickbucks.  First is Check-In and Collect.  By tapping the numbered bubbles, you receive the indicated kickbucks. Also, some bubbles have a star which indicates a bonus hidden inside.  Blank bubbles will give you a point toward leveling, so check every bubble.  After you have checked in, a check mark will appear in the bubble.

The second way to earn kickbuck points is  to go to the Store and Collect. Collecting in stores offers a lot more kickbucks than just checking in and collecting from home.  All you have to do is go to one of the stores that have in-store kickbucks.  Walk in, check for reception and collect. It is that easy, no joke!

Some stores offer additional kickbucks by scanning certain items.  So keep your eyes open for kickbucks inside.  Use kickbucks to get cool stuff like gift cards, facebook credits, purses, head phones, a TV or even a cruise. You get a reduced kickbucks deal offer for the first 10 days after starting ShopKick.  Not sure if it is the same for everyone but my offer was a $25 dollar gift card to restaurant.com for 400 kickbucks instead of 875 kickbucks. Great deal!!! I was over 400 kickbucks after just the first day.  It is so easy to use.  Want 50 kickbucks just for starting?  Use my shopkick promo code: bison6464 and you will get 50 kickbucks points to start.  And for a limited time, you will get 250 kickbucks instead of 50.
